How to: Distressed Jeans

This is a tutorial on how to distress a pair of jeans on your own. This is a time consuming project. Depending on the size of the hole you are creating, the time will be affected. The larger the hole the longer you will spend pulling it apart. So let me stop blabbing and let's get into the tutorial.

You want to start off with a pair of clean jeans. It would be best if these jeans were an older pair. You could go to a thrift store to find a perfect pair of jeans to distress.

Next you want to put the jeans on and mark where you want the holes to be. You can do as many holes as you want here, it is all about preference.

You are going to cut two straight line parrallel to each other. Again the size of the hole is up to you.

NOw you are going to begin pulling apart the jeans. You are going to want to pull the upright threads off of you jeans. These are the blue or colored threads that are perpendicular to the parallel cuts. DON'T pull the white threads, those are what make the distressed look. You can do this with your fingers, but it is a lot easy if you do it with tweezers.

You are going to pull the blue threads off until your hole only has the white threads left. You will continue these steps to add more holes if you want to the rest of the jeans. Finally wash them to bring out the entire distressed look.
